Konavle and Dubrovnik County

Dubrovnik's coast and the Lower Neretva region

The River Neretva. from being a wild mountain river finally transforms itself into the most indented delta in Croatia For countless years this symbol of the landscape of the lower Neretva region comprised swampland expanses that were home to an abundance ot fish and wading birds. Today, however, agriculture has taken over and is growing strongly, especially the cultivation of citrus fruits. Habitats of rich flora and fauna are protected in ornithological and other reserves.
